5 Tips for Choosing the Perfect Foundation Shade
Too light, too dark, too orange, too brown?
With the thousands of shades out there, how do you know when a Foundation is the right shade?
Here are 5 tips to ensure you are getting the right Foundation shade for your skin:
1. Try it on your cheek, not your wrist – where are you going to be wearing it? Your hands are likely a different shade to your face. The Foundation colour should blend into your skin – if you can see the line it’s the wrong shade.
2. Check the shade in daylight – either go outside or make sure a daylight (blue) globe is being used. Yellow tungsten light in many shops distorts the colour.
3. Those old Foundations that you never wear – too dark/too light? Try mixing a couple together and see what you end up with. Sometimes the perfect shade is already in your makeup drawer!
4. Mature, dry skin is better suited to moisturising creamy foundations. For normal-oily skin, an oil free or Mineral Foundation is ideal.
5. Use your fingertips or a sponge, working quickly. Don’t drag on the skin and make sure you blend well, down into the neck area.
